Forward Steps by our Cousins in the Community of Christ

Just now I received an email that I want to share with my Mormon brothers and sisters. The Community of Christ, as most of us know, was formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here is the email:

Hi Carol Lynn, I hope you are doing well. We met at the Circling the Wagons conference in Washington, DC a year ago. You were a guest speaker at the conference and we shared together in the communion worship service on Sunday morning.

Last week I was a delegate to Community of Christ’s 2013 World and USA Conferences. I thought you’d be interested in the historic recommendations, regarding same sex marriage, covenant relationship, and ordination of priesthood, that were made at the USA Conference. The common consent method we utilized at the conference to make the recommendations was historic too. You’ll find information about the recommendations at the following link: http://www.cofchrist.org/usaConf/.

Please keep in your prayers those who are rejoicing the recommendations and those who are grieving them.

God bless and hold hope high!

Wade Wallace

Pastor

Washington, DC Community of Christ

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor”. -Luke 4:18-19

I urge all readers to follow the link in the email: http://www.cofchrist.org/usaConf/
You will find a page of rich history as it involves the commitment of one important part of the Restoration in meeting today’s social and spiritual changes.

I urge you also to listen to the address of President Steve Veazey at the bottom of the page. I found him and his words to be intelligent, engaging and inspiring.

Very glad to be Restoration Cousins with these good people. And to be walking with them on the journey toward inclusion of our gay brothers and sisters.
